I'm looking for some input from anyone who has used a Category II Delta Hook or Freedom Hitch with a 9'-0" disc mower. Which of these units is the easiest to use? Any opinions about the quality of either of these quick hitches is greatly appreciated.

Mark, I have seen, but not used, the Delta product. It is very similar in operation to the Freedom Hitch. It's concievable that the Delta Hook is stronger than the Freedom Hitch, but irrelevant as a practical consideration. My main concern with the Delta Hook, other than the fact that it was about 40% more expensive, was the size of the cutout for the PTO shaft. I find that the Freedom Hitch will sometimes rub the PTO shaft when tilling very deep unless I extend the top link somewhat. On the Delta Hook the problem would be much worse because it has even less clearance for the shaft. As for operation, the Freedom Hitch works great. It appears that you have not seen the other posts on this forum or TractorByNet. Try using the search feature on both forums and you'll find out all you could ever want to know about the Freedom Hitch, though info on Delta Hooks is rather sparse here. ....

I have seen the other posts on this forum concerning the Freedom Hitch, but I have not seen/heard any comments from anyone using the Delta Hook or Freedom Hitch with a disc mower. One of the engineers for Delta Hook tells me that this unit is being used with disc mowers, but he could not tell me for sure if the unit would work with a Bush Hog or M&W mower. My concern with either unit is the "torque load" that will be applied (most of the weight of a disc mower is supported by lower right link when lifted). Has anyone seen either of these units used with a disc mower?

The list prices I have for Category II are as follows:

Delta Hook - $660
Freedom Hitch - $650 ....
